StrategicHealthSolutions, LLC (Strategic) recently achieved its third continuing education (CE) accreditation this year, making it an elite, multi-accredited national provider of CE for healthcare professionals.

The Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME®), a national accreditation organization for professional education programs, granted a two-year provisional accreditation to Strategic on November 30, 2012, as a provider of Continuing Medical Education (CME). ACCME CE is designed to change medical professionals' competence, performance, or patient outcomes.

The ACCME accreditation follows accreditations from the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE®) and the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), awarded in June and September, respectively.

ACPE® authorizes Strategic to develop and provide Continuing Pharmacy Education (CPE), which focuses on pharmacy-related CE. IACET authorizes Strategic to develop and provide Continuing Education Units (CEUs), which Strategic may use for CE that meets the company's standards for quality.

"The achievement of these three national-level accreditations allows Strategic to expand its education and training services and offer continuing educational credit to multi-disciplinary healthcare providers," said Linda Beiriger, Strategic's CE Program Coordinator.

ACCME, founded in 1981 and based in Chicago, IL, identifies, develops, and promotes national standards for quality CME. Strategic is one of more than 2,000 CME providers accredited by ACCME.

  • 01/15/13--14:07: Glamour & Glitz
  • Douglas County Historical Society's 3rd Annual Costume Collection Runway Show and Exhibition, Glamour & Glitz, will feature Twentieth Century evening wear from the golden age of fashion in the 20s through the statements of personal freedom in the 60s. The show and exhibition will be held on March 23rd, 2013 at the Swanson Conference Center on Metropolitan Community College's Fort Omaha Campus.

Fashion expert Sue McLain and DCHS staff have been collaborating on this year's show and exhibition, which will be the first of its kind for McLain. Unlike the first two years, this year's show will focus on the history of the individual garments and accessories. A gown worn to the Dwight Eisenhower inaugural ball in 1957 will be among those McLain will bring from her extensive collection. The Ak-Sar-Ben coronation gown worn by Queen Catherine Ann Foley - complete with its sequined and beaded train - will be one of the gowns displayed from the DCHS collection. This will also mark the third year DCHS will present its "Women Defining History Award" honoring a woman who inspires, challenges, and serves as a model for others to strengthen our community through philanthropic outreach, tenacity, courage and creativity. Their achievements have helped shaped the history of Douglas County. Previous honorees include Mary Maxwell and Dolores "Dee" Owen.

  • 01/18/13--13:56: Beer In Omaha: A History
  • Due to the popularity of the June 2012 talk on prohibition and bootlegging, two related talks will be offered as a series early in 2013. Both talks will be presented by Bill Baburek, an avid collector of beer memorabilia and owner of Beer Corner USA. He is the instructor of Beer School, a six-week course offered at Beertopia, one of the four businesses on Beer Corner.

    Part One:
2pm February 10, 2013 at the Swanson Conference Center Institute for the Culinary Arts on Metropolitan Community College's Fort Omaha Campus - just off of 32nd and Sorensen Parkway.

Join the Douglas County Historical Society as speaker Bill Baburek tells of Omaha's rich brewing history. Among the topics discussed will be the development of all of the major breweries such as Metz, Storz, Krug and Falstaff as well as some of the smaller breweries like Willow Springs, Fontenelle and Jetter.

Reservations Required! The talk is free for DCHS members; A $5 donation is requested of non-members. Please email, or call 402-455-9990 to reserve your spot.

    Part Two:
Mark your calendars now to join us on April 14th for a discussion of Local Craft Brewers and a Beer Tasting with Bill Baburek at the General Crook House Museum. Further details will be announced soon. Second Sunday Talks are supported by the Dr. C.C. and Mabel L. Criss Memorial Foundation.
