Zurlo's Bistro Adding Some Extra Sparkle for the Holidays

$

The new Zurlo's Catering Van may not fit underneath a typical holiday tree, but the gleaming white vehicle proves Chef Enzo must have been extra good this year.

December and January feature busy weeks for everyone at Zurlo's Bistro Italiano with various business and wedding catering events, Christmas Eve and, of course, the restaurant's annual New Year's Eve Party.

"Our new van already has its own new car smell," laughs Zurlo's Bistro owner Lori Stangl. "When you open the van doors, heavenly aromas from smoked gouda, Italian chicken or cheesy garlic crostinis greet you. My personal weakness is the Tri Tower Napoleon Tart."

Upcoming catering bookings will likely enhance the van's delicious scent. Zurlo's staff will be delivering Zurlo's Caprese, Chicken Won Tons and Salmon Crostinis as the Bistro helps local businesses host various celebrations.

The van isn't the only additional luster boasting a festive spirit for Zurlo's patrons. Guests dining at the restaurant for lunch, dinner or Sunday Brunch will enjoy the greenery and sparkling decorations adorning the interior of Zurlo's Bistro during the upcoming holiday weeks.

Couples opting for a romantic dinner may also 'accidentally' stumble across some mistletoe over dessert and be lightly teased by their server to sneak in a quick smooch before enjoying a Zabaglione dessert. (The fresh fruit and hazelnut cream dessert is specially garnished during the holidays.)

December's Live Music line-up is also shimmer-worthy. Each Thursday, from 5-8pm, patrons dropping in for a cocktail, appetizer and/or dinner will enjoy several of Omaha's most popular local musicians. On the schedule is Mark "Sharky" Sanford (Dec 6th), Chris Saub (Dec 13th), Brian Alexander (Dec 20th) and eNVy (Dec 27th).

The Bistro will be closed December 25th and January 2 in observance of Christmas Day and New Year's Day respectively. However, Zurlo's will be open Christmas Eve from 11am to 7pm. And of course, Zurlo's preparations for the Bistro's very popular annual New Year's Eve celebration have been arranged.

Course menu selections can be reviewed at the link above.

Reservations can be made for three seating times beginning at 6pm. Live Music performances by Darryl White, Janet Staley and Ev Yates are planned as part of the New Year's entertainment. Reservations may be made via the website or by calling 402.884.9500.

Clean, Shine and Protect Your Floors During the Holiday Rush!

Here are three reasons why stripping and waxing your floors periodically by a professional janitorial service makes more than good sense.

Floor Integrity - All the clatter in this day and age is about "integrity;" but what does integrity mean? Consistency. Unwavering reliability. Unimpaired virtue. Soundness. All things which are good qualities for a life partner; what's more of a life partner than the earth beneath your feet? Having a janitorial service regularly strip and wax your floors preserves this integrity and maintains their consistency.

Floor Cleanliness - Another rather obvious reason for wanting your floors regularly tended to by a professional janitorial service is so that your floors can get that clean they've been lacking. When a janitorial service comes in and strips your floors the dullness that has invaded them is removed along with any obvious stains. As well hardened dirt will be loosened adding further luster to that tired old floor which it was before.

Floor Durability - One more reason to have your floors regularly handled by those in the janitorial services industry is so that you don't need to have the floor replaced. If you're just walking around on tired old portions of yesterdays dirt and mess you're going to naturally put more wear and strain on the floor than is necessary. By having janitorial services regularly cleaning your floor it will delay your actually having to have any oft-used floor replaced.

Getting your floors stripped and waxed in a regular manner by professional janitorial services is of great benefit for your floor. The only way to do that with any amount of success is to make sure you employ a janitorial service that knows what they are doing. However once you've seen your floors before and after being stripped and waxed you will wonder how you ever went so long without having this process done.

Midwest Maintenance will come out to your business and evaluate your floor care needs and design a quality program to fully and efficiently meet your specific needs FREE of charge! Call us today at 402-733-1114 and ask for Mikaela, Rob or Bruce!

Reduce Hospital-Acquired Infection Risks to Patients, Visitors & Staff in Your Medical Facility

As many of you know, Medicare and Medicaid will no longer foot the bill for hospital-acquired infections (HAI), which puts a lot of pressure on environmental services professionals responsible for cleaning and disinfecting.

Some startling statistics: 2.4 million people were affected by HAIs, resulting in between $35 to $45 billion in excess healthcare costs. Talk about pressure.

This potential financial burden and public relations nightmare has resulted in increased scrutiny for custodial professionals, who focus on proper cleaning and disinfecting procedures - and documentation - to remain compliant. In fact, the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organization (JCAHO) is specifically looking at disinfection policies during the auditing process, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is analyzing best practices closely.

Proper disinfection is especially important in areas where Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), E. coli or Clostridium difficile (C.diff) have been detected. If ignored, MRSA can live on surfaces for up to 7 months, E. coli can live up to 16 months and C.diff can live up to 9 months. And all spread quickly and easily among building occupants.

It is essential that custodial personnel have a clear understanding of when and where to disinfect. But more importantly, it is vital to read disinfectant kill claims and use the correct product for the application.

If you need clarification, reach out to Midwest Maintenance by calling 402-733-1114 and ask for Mikaela, Rob or Bruce!

Improve the Indoor Environmental Quality in Your Facility!

"Indoor Environmental Quality," as the name implies, simply refers to the quality of the air in an office or other building environments. Workers are often concerned that they have symptoms or health conditions from exposures to contaminants in the buildings where they work. One reason for this concern is that their symptoms often get better when they are not in the building.

While research has shown that some respiratory symptoms and illnesses can be associated with damp buildings, it is still unclear what measurements of indoor contaminants show that workers are at risk for disease.

In most instances where a worker and his or her physician suspect that the building environment is causing a specific health condition, the information available from medical tests and tests of the environment is not sufficient to establish which contaminants are responsible.

Despite uncertainty about what to measure and how to interpret what is measured, research shows that building-related symptoms are associated with building characteristics, including dampness, cleanliness, and ventilation characteristics. Indoor environments are highly complex and building occupants may be exposed to a variety of contaminants (in the form of gases and particles) from office machines, cleaning products, construction activities, carpets and furnishings, perfumes, cigarette smoke, water-damaged building materials, microbial growth (fungal / mold and bacterial), insects, and outdoor pollutants. Other factors such as indoor temperatures, relative humidity, and ventilation levels can also affect how individuals respond to the indoor environment.

Understanding the sources of indoor environmental contaminants and controlling them can often help prevent or resolve building-related worker symptoms. Practical guidance for improving and maintaining the indoor environment is available. Regular cleaning schedules make for healthier environments for your clients, guests and employees!
