The Completely KIDS Guild announces the upcoming Author Luncheon, a fundraiser supporting Omaha nonprofit Completely KIDS, featuring keynote speaker Dr. Michael Osit.

Osit is a practicing psychologist who will address how parents and professionals can work with youth to develop key social skills, a healthy identity, and a strong work ethic despite their entire world being right at their fingertips. Osit's talk will be based on his book, "Generation Text: Raising Well-Adjusted Kids in an Age of Instant Everything."

"When we read his book, we knew from our own experiences that this subject is extremely important for the well-being and safety of our children," said Susie Zindel, Author Luncheon co-chairman. "Parents, grandparents and educators will all find this speaker educational."

The event will be held on April 10 at Hilton Omaha, 1001 Cass Street, with registration beginning at 11:30 a.m., and the luncheon and speaker to begin at noon. The presenting sponsor is Cox Communications. Event chairmen are Ann Marie Abboud and Zindel, with honorary chairmen Joy and Gordon Watanabe.

During the luncheon, former Completely KIDS board member Dave Erker and philanthropist Charles E. Lakin will receive The Men Behind Completely KIDS awards for their contributions to Completely KIDS over the years.

Reservations for the event can be made at completelykids.org or by contacting Blair Bonnesen at (402) 397-5809. Cost is $75 for patron reservations, which includes a signed book; $50 for individual reservations; and $30 for educators.

Complimentary self-parking will be available.

"The topic of this year's luncheon is very relevant to the age in which we live," said Penny Parker, Completely KIDS executive director. "Our hope is that everyone who attends will glean some valuable information that can be applied to their lives. We appreciate the guild members for all they have done to make this a successful event."

Proceeds from the Author Luncheon will support the continuation of Completely KIDS programming, including the Prevention Education program. Completely KIDS nurtures Safe KIDS through its Prevention Education program, which offers three professionally-acted plays on internet safety and sexual abuse prevention.
