Douglas County Historical Society's 3rd Annual Costume Collection Runway Show and Exhibition, Glamour & Glitz, will feature Twentieth Century evening wear from the golden age of fashion in the 20s through the statements of personal freedom in the 60s. The show and exhibition will be held on March 23rd, 2013 at the Swanson Conference Center on Metropolitan Community College's Fort Omaha Campus.

Fashion expert Sue McLain and DCHS staff have been collaborating on this year's show and exhibition, which will be the first of its kind for McLain. Unlike the first two years, this year's show will focus on the history of the individual garments and accessories. A gown worn to the Dwight Eisenhower inaugural ball in 1957 will be among those McLain will bring from her extensive collection. The Ak-Sar-Ben coronation gown worn by Queen Catherine Ann Foley - complete with its sequined and beaded train - will be one of the gowns displayed from the DCHS collection. This will also mark the third year DCHS will present its "Women Defining History Award" honoring a woman who inspires, challenges, and serves as a model for others to strengthen our community through philanthropic outreach, tenacity, courage and creativity. Their achievements have helped shaped the history of Douglas County. Previous honorees include Mary Maxwell and Dolores "Dee" Owen.
