Omaha Performing Arts presents Lyle Lovett and His Large Band on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. at the Holland Performing Arts Center. The four-time Grammy®-award winner, who last appeared at the Holland Center with his Large Band in July 2010, will open Omaha Performing Arts' 2012/2013 Season.
A native Texan, Lovett is considered to be among the most distinctive singers to emerge during the 1980s with songs that are a unique blend of country, jazz, swing and pop. Since his self-titled debut in 1986, Lovett has evolved into one of music's most vibrant and iconic performers.
In his performance on August 21, Lovett will perform selections from his latest album, Release Me, backed by a five-piece band. Produced by Nathaniel Kunkel and Lovett, Release Me represents the end of an era as it's his last record for Curb/Universal Music Group after being on the label for his entire career. Release Me is quintessential Lovett, mixing a smart collection of originals and covers that show not only the breadth of this Texas legend's deep talents, but also the diversity of his influences.
Tickets for Lyle Lovett and His Large Band start at $35 and can be purchased online at TicketOmaha.com, by phone at 402.345.0606, or at the Ticket Omaha office in the Holland Performing Arts Center, 13th and Douglas streets.
