The 96TH Nebraska REALTORS® Association Annual Convention and Exhibition was held April 15-17, 2013 at La Vista with over 800 REALTORS® in attendance.
66 members received the REALTOR® Mark of Excellence during the Grand Luncheon on April 16, Julie May, Don Evans and Robert Wiebusch of NP Dodge Real Estate were recognized for receiving the Mark of Excellence Award from the Association.

Omaha Tree 2013 Mulch Pricing and Tips
2013 Mulch Prices Natural:

Mulch Tips:
1. 1 yard will cover approximately 100 sq ft. An area 10 x 10, 3-4 inches deep.
2. Despite what you may see around town, when spreading mulch around trees, be careful not to bury the trunk or any exposed root flares. Mulch retains moisture and will invite a fungus to the base of the tree, which will result in rotting, dying or falling over
3. It is never a good idea to put freshly painted mulch down just before or during a rainstorm. The color will bleed off. Omaha Tree is not responsible for the color washing off the mulch.

Organic mulch is available in several forms, but why is it important? What does it do? Incorporating organic mulch into your yearly landscaping maintenance plan can not only add a beautiful appearance but biologically can mean so much more.
Organic mulch will provide your trees, shrubs and gardens with the following benefits:
- Reduce temperature fluctuations in the soil
- Conserve moisture in the soil
- Increase root development
- Decrease weed and grass competition
- Decrease soil compaction
- Increase fertility, nutrients and oxygen
- Decrease rodent activity
- Decrease mower or other mechanical damage
The key to using organic mulch to the fullest degree is to install or have it installed properly. Organic mulch that is too deep can cause root systems to girdle or rot. Placing organic mulch directly against plant stems (the trunk of a tree for example) can decrease oxygen and nitrogen availability and also invite fungal or bacterial problems.
A good rule to follow during installation is 3-4 inches deep and the wider the better to retain sufficient moisture levels and maximize the benefits mentioned above.
