Many of us take medications on a daily basis without thinking too much about it.

Most people don't realize it typically takes approximately 10 years to develop new medications, and it's a costly process. One great way you can assist medical research with this is process is to become a study participant with Celerion. Clinical studies are an important part in developing new medicines and without study participants, medical research would not be possible.

We are currently recruiting for several studies with stipend packagages anywhere between $1570 and $6600. To become a participant or for more information, please visit or call our recruiting center at 855-669-7633. The Completely KIDS Guild announces the upcoming Author Luncheon, a fundraiser supporting Omaha nonprofit Completely KIDS, featuring keynote speaker Dr. Michael Osit.

Osit is a practicing psychologist who will address how parents and professionals can work with youth to develop key social skills, a healthy identity, and a strong work ethic despite their entire world being right at their fingertips. Osit's talk will be based on his book, "Generation Text: Raising Well-Adjusted Kids in an Age of Instant Everything."

"When we read his book, we knew from our own experiences that this subject is extremely important for the well-being and safety of our children," said Susie Zindel, Author Luncheon co-chairman. "Parents, grandparents and educators will all find this speaker educational."

The event will be held on April 10 at Hilton Omaha, 1001 Cass Street, with registration beginning at 11:30 a.m., and the luncheon and speaker to begin at noon. The presenting sponsor is Cox Communications. Event chairmen are Ann Marie Abboud and Zindel, with honorary chairmen Joy and Gordon Watanabe.

During the luncheon, former Completely KIDS board member Dave Erker and philanthropist Charles E. Lakin will receive The Men Behind Completely KIDS awards for their contributions to Completely KIDS over the years.

Reservations for the event can be made at or by contacting Blair Bonnesen at (402) 397-5809. Cost is $75 for patron reservations, which includes a signed book; $50 for individual reservations; and $30 for educators.

    Complimentary self-parking will be available.

"The topic of this year's luncheon is very relevant to the age in which we live," said Penny Parker, Completely KIDS executive director. "Our hope is that everyone who attends will glean some valuable information that can be applied to their lives. We appreciate the guild members for all they have done to make this a successful event."

Proceeds from the Author Luncheon will support the continuation of Completely KIDS programming, including the Prevention Education program. Completely KIDS nurtures Safe KIDS through its Prevention Education program, which offers three professionally-acted plays on internet safety and sexual abuse prevention.

The fourth annual Pinot, Pigs & Poets will be held Thursday, June 6 at Happy Hollow Club. Pinot, Pigs & Poets is known as one of Omaha's premier wine and food events. It features outstanding Pinot Noir wines, savory pork dishes from some of Omaha's best chefs and quick-witted slam poetry by the Nebraska Writers Collective. Additionally, the Taste of Elegance Chef Competition sponsored by the Nebraska Pork Producers Association has been added to the 2013 event lineup.

Last year, Pinot, Pigs & Poets raised more than $140,000 to support Completely KIDS. With the addition of Taste of Elegance, Pinot, Pigs & Poets and the Nebraska Pork Producers Association will join efforts to inspire some of the area's most creative and well-known chefs to showcase pork, strengthen chefs' preferences for pork as a versatile meat on restaurant menus, promote more frequent dining at participating restaurants, and increase consumer awareness and demand for pork.

The winning chef will be awarded a trip to the 2014 Pork Summit at the Greystone Campus of the Culinary Institute of America in St. Helena, Calif. Restaurants participating in Pinot, Pigs & Poets this year include:

The Wellness Pointe invites you to our Grand Opening Celebration, Thursday, March 21, 4-7pm, with a Ribbon Cutting at 6pm.

Located at Village Pointe South, 16909 Burke Street, Omaha, NE.

The Wellness Pointe, a sister clinic of Clocktower Chiropractic, Inc., now offers on-location community outreach programming for wellness.

Clocktower Chiropractic, Inc., owned by Dr. Ryan Goss, D.C., has taken a cue from growing trends and developed specialized wellness programs to offer local businesses, including professional chair massages, ergonomic assessments, and interactive wellness workshops.

In August 2012, he and Dr. Richard Arndt, D.C., along with Dr. Benjamin Tapper, D.C., acquired The Wellness Pointe and expanded their employee wellness programming for local businesses. As business leaders seek to support employees through various wellness opportunities and incentives, even the Federal Government has chimed in with legislation to enable this proactive health perspective. Incentives for businesses may help fund programs, and The Wellness Pointe is here to jump start the process. Eligible businesses may qualify for Wellness Pointe outreach programs at no cost.

"Our employees have been outspoken with the fact that they were thrilled to receive such a "perk" from our company," shares Amanda Koile, Wellness Coordinator for Applied Underwriters, a Berkshire Hathaway Company. "An extra spark of motivation was ignited in them as they were given such an individual "bonus" during a very busy and stressful time in our organization."

The Wellness Pointe is committed to providing the best chiropractic and wellness services available. Clinic services include professional massage, chiropractic adjustments, personal injury care, nutritional counseling, and more.

Door prize ticket sales will support Make-A-Wish Nebraska, and prizes include tickets to The Lion King at the Orpheum Theatre and a $100 Gift Basket from the brand new Natural Grocers store.

Family activities will include free chair massages, face painting and games. Refreshments will be provided. Preregistration is encouraged for the Grand Opening.

For information on Wellness programs, please contact or call 402.933.4463 and ask for Megan.
