In November we hosted 3 FREE workouts that benefited the Foodbank for the Heartland here in Omaha.

We had such an overwhelming response of people who wanted to participate to help those in need (donated 292 lbs of food!), that we decided to do it again in December.

That is why we have decided to open our doors for another fun filled Saturday workout and do a toy drive for Toys for Tots.

On Saturday, December 17th at 7, 8 and 9 am we're doing free "Holiday workout" at SG Human Performance. The only cost to come to class and get in a great workout around Christmas is just one new unwrapped toy to help those kids that are less fortunate. Use this link to sign up.

Area companies invited to swim in the official U.S. Swim Team Trials pool, support local swim teams

Omaha, Neb. (Mar. 1, 2012) - Back by popular demand, the Omaha Sports Commission (OSC) is hosting the Corporate Swim Challenge at CenturyLink Center Omaha on June 16-one week before Omaha hosts 1,500 Olympic contenders at the 2012 U.S. Swim Team Trials.

The Corporate Swim Challenge started in 2008 as a way for local companies to participate in a fun, team-based activity and to support Omaha's involvement in the Swim Trials. Proceeds of the challenge benefit area swim programs.

Harold Cliff, president of the OSC and chief operating officer of the 2012 U.S. Swim Team Trials, said the Corporate Swim Challenge is the perfect kick-off event leading up to the trials. "We're enthusiastic to once again present the swim challenge as a way for companies to promote wellness and to boost morale throughout their organizations," he said. "It's a unique opportunity for people to team up, get out of the office and swim in the official U.S. Swim Team Trials pool."

Corporate teams, each consisting of four employees and/or their spouses/dependents, can compete in a 200-meter medley relay, 200-meter freestyle relay or in both events. Entry fees start at $400 for the first team, with discounts available for multiple teams. Entry fees are the same regardless of whether a team participates in one or both relay events, Cliff said.

In 2008, 45 teams of 174 participants represented 23 local companies in the competition. This year, the OSC hopes to reach at least 65 teams.

"This event really is a great thing for our city, and it reflects the OSC's commitment to strengthening the community and creating a positive economic impact for Omaha," Cliff said. "Thousands of people from all over the country are coming to town for the Swim Trials, and Omaha will benefit greatly from that. Local companies can make an impact too by participating in this challenge."

Promotional materials are available for companies to recruit employees to form a team. Visit www.corporateswimchallenge.com for details.

To schedule an interview with a first-time or repeat swim challenge participant(s), or for any other media inquiry, please contact the OSC at 402-502-2216.
